Jim Goodwin has been an active BWAA member since 1983, and a member of the board of directors since 1995. A former proprietor, he was instrumental in creating the Bowl Expo partnership between BPAA, STE, and BWAA, which led to bringing the organization to the International Bowling Campus.
He has served on and chaired many BWAA committees; and has been involved in other industry work. He recently completed a year long term as chair of the 50 Years of Women’s Pro Bowling Exhibit Committee for the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame, and he is the chairman of  Bowling’s Coaches Hall of Fame Committee; and serves on the IBMHF Hall of Fame Tournament committee.

In 1991, with his wife CJ, he founded Stars & Strikes Bowling Newsmagazine, America’s only nationally distributed bowling newspaper, now in its 20th year of publication. In 2008, he founded the Bowling News Network, uniting local and regional bowling newspapers as part of the International Bowling campus. He currently serves as BNN president.

Goodwin was one of the founders of the Professional Women’s Bowling Association Regional Tournament program and served as program director until the organization ceased operation in 2003; in 2004, he founded the Ladies Classic Tour, Inc., promoting and conducting 14 events.

As a professional writer, his articles have been published in most industry magazines and newspapers. He has also served as publicity and media director for events like the Mini Eliminator, the Brunswick Senior World Open, the Teen Masters, and the Generations Pro Bowling Tour.
