Medical Update from Connie Marchione

"I apologize for not getting around to replying... Thank you for your concerns for my well being. Since getting home from KC and seeing my doctor at home, he checked me and looked at the x-rays sent from KC. There was nothing he could do except to order new x-rays. Then after looking at them, he found fluid built up in my bruised lung and called me back to the hospital near my home for three days to drain the fluid. I lost about a half quart of blood drained from my back and thought everything will be okay.

"The following week I had x-rays taken and told that the fluid had built up again. This time had a five-day stay at the hospital where they put in a tube through my left side to my lung to drain the fluid out, another half quart of blood lost. I also had to keep on using oxygen to build up my lungs. The x-rays showed that the cracked ribs are healing nicely and I also have separated my shoulder with my collar bone (not a dislocation as I was told in KC. I will go through physical therapy (in July) to exercise my left arm to strengthen my shoulder. Thanks again for all the well wishes."

Pearl Keller Suffers Fractured Pelvis

An email note from Jan Schultz, Pearl Keller's daughter: "I just wanted to let her friends know that she has been doing much better lately, but unfortunately she fell recently and fractured her pelvis. It is a hairline fracture and she should fully recover after a hospital and rehab stay, but it will probably be 6-8 weeks till she is back to normal. She has had trouble getting on the computer to check email before the accident, but now she will not be on the computer at all, so we will monitor her email and relay any communications she might get from friends. If you wish to contact me directly, my email is: jankschultz@comcast.net."
